I’d like to talk about one of my favorite styles – horror. I discovered it for myself thanks to movies, for example «A nightmare on Elm street». My passion is to frighten people, to make something scary. Photos give me this opportunity. Together with talented photographers Andrew Rezun, Nikolay Krauz and Jaroslava Schneider we’ve created many dark images. My first professional horror shooting was in 2013. I’ve made «blood bath» and drabbled myself with a paint. There was frightening mess in a room. And that’s the point. Many people want to look scary, but they are afraid to become dirty or ugly. I’m sure, that horror is ugly, and it has its own aesthetics at the same time. You can’t be really frightening without ugliness. It’s not comfortable to be covered with a spider web or mud. It’s not tasty to bite a raw liver. But thanks to all of this you’ll get great photos. I stood bootlessly on cold floor, were covered with metal chains and held larvas, which were biting me. Maybe the craziest shooting was in zombie style, when I came out from the «grave». We found something like a cuvette on the field and started to «bury» me. There was funny for us, but not for witnesses. They were really afraid. Fortunately, they didn’t interfere. I brought some horror details in our apartment too. Our towel, bath curtain and mat has spots of «blood». Actually, I examined dreadful things during my scientific work in University. For example, stories written by Leonid Andreev. My own stories are terrifying too. Well, maybe I’m strange.
